Habenaria medusa Orchid – dormancy and basic care tips
My Habenaria medusa orchid is preparing to go into dormancy, sadly skipping blooming this year. But there’s always next year!
So now I am keeping the corm dry until it starts growth in the spring time. Each year the previous corm dies and a new one, or multiple new ones, take its pace. From each corm a new plant will grow and the cycle will continue.
Each winter the orchid will go into dormancy and will lose leaves and stems. During summer it requires evenly moist media, intermediate to warm temperatures, intermediate light and fertilizer. During dormancy it requires pretty dry conditions and intermediate temperatures. No light required until new growth starts.
