Orchid Flower Spike or Not? #1 – Maxillaria tenuifolia, Dendrobium anosmum, Phalaenopsis & more!

Today we start a new series that I recently thought of, although I always think about flower spikes 😛 What is my orchid growing?
🦋 More info below! 🦋

1. Maxillaria tenuifolia always grows buds under the new growths.

2. Phalaenopsis orchids typically have thin flower spikes under the second leaf on one side.

3. Miltoniopsis orchids will grow 1-4 spikes at once, but they start producing them from the longest leaf and the pseudobulb.

4. Dendrobium anosmum normally blooms once a year around spring, with many flowers along its canes.

5. Neofinetia falcata can bloom twice a year and the spikes are very hard to identify, but they are typically plumper and have a ‘tulip’ shape.

I wonder what is my Trichopilia suavis growing now? 🤔
