Dendrobium glomeratum x lawesii Orchid – Growth habit and care tips

Today we look at e new blooming orchid in my collection, a new Dendrobium crush!

Dendrobium glomeratum (sulawesiense) x lawesii is a primary hybrid between 2 species in the Calyptrochilus section. Learn more about this section here http://www.aos.org/orchids/orchids-a-to-z/letter-d/den-sec-calyptrochilus.aspx

It produces long canes which lose their leaves every once to two years. Flowers appear on the upper nodes of the canes and are formed in an inflorescence of 3 or more flowers.

This Orchid doesn’t need a winter rest, or a pause in watering or fertilizer in order to bloom. Furthermore it seems to not enjoy dryness at all, I was actually forced to change the setup to better suit my possibilities. Light should be bright shade and temperature intermediate.

This is not a fragrant orchid, but the bright pink – magenta flowers are a great pop of color which will brighten any grow room!
