Orchids in bloom and new purchases – January 2017

It is that time of the month when we take a look at the orchids who bloomed in the past month and also some new additions to the collection!

The orchids featured in this video are, in order of appearance:

1. Aerangis citrata, a first time bloom for me for this species! the flowers are very dainty and pretty, though the lack of fragrance is a bit disappointing.

2. Oncidessa Hwuluduen Chameleon Golden Oriole, a great bloomer in all the years I had it, great flower display and very nice fragrance, something that reminds me of candy!

3. Cycnodes Jumbo Puff ‘Taiyoung’ was another first time bloomer, very bright yellow flowers, nice display and a very pleasant fragrance of artificial vanilla!

4. Cattleya Hawaiian Splash Lea is one of my oldest Catts, been with me for about 4 years already. Reliable bloomer, non fragrant but one of those that puts a smile on your face 😛

5. Epicattleya Rene Marques Flame Thrower, a first time bloom for me and oooooh.. I am in love 😛 if it had a fragrance it would become my favorite orchid.

The new aquisitions: Burrageara Nelly isler, both red and orange variety (orange one seems to be called Boon), Oncidopsis Bartley Schwarz, Phalaenopsis Malibu Madonna and Beallara Tahoma Glacier.
