Today I am a happy orchid grower, as one of the most anticipated orchids that I own is finally in bloom! And what a glamorous bloom this is!

Cattleya Monte Elegante (Elegant mountain in Spanish) is a hybrid between C.Sophia Martin X C.Interglossa and is a bifoliate Cattleya. The canes are long and slender, presenting ridges on their length.
The flowers are medium in size, waxy and sturdy, while the inflorescence is formed by multiple flowers arranged in a cluster. This orchid can produce up to 15 or more flowers per cluster!
The flowers have a white – pink background and present a dotted fuchsia pattern on the sepals. The petals have a fuchsia splash and appear to be peloric, as they resemble the lip.
But if the display is not striking, wait until you hear about the fragrance! To me it is floral soft and calming, a blend of roses, lilies and lilac all in one. Even though it is soft, it filled half of my greenhouse! Such a wonderful fragrance on such an elegant display, who wouldn’t want this Cattleya?
