Orchid updates – Chysis, Dendrobium, Brassavola, Kirchara
here is an update on some of my orchids that you haven;t seen in a long time. In order of appearance:
Chysis bractescens, he is starting to lose his leaves but I think we’ll have a new growth starting soon as well. he takes no dormancy or breaks at all, I always water him.
Dendrobium parishii, funny little guy, stays dormant for 4.. 5 months. I think we have a bud forming apart from the new growth.
Cattleya Jungle Eyes is maturing a bud in fast mode. he is rather purple so i am hoping for a great color when it opens.
Kirchara Jairak Kiss Spot Lip is growing well, care for this one is absolutely the same as for any other Cattleya orchid hybrid. Nothing fancy.
Dendrobium spectabile Big Devil looking fantastic, it took no dormancy of any sorts so I watered it as the canes would shrivel horribly if I didn’t. No blooms, but he is pretty young still.
Brassavola Jimminey Cricket is growing very well.. unpotted 🙂 she will get a pot when I get to my new location though, I think this one does great with basic Cattleya care, no fuss. But do keep in mind they like a ton of ventilation.
