Repotting Vanda orchid from Orchitop to clay pot
I have been spoiled by the ease of watering in clay pots and inorganic medium, so my Vanda orchid in the Orchitop pot has been suffering due to my neglect. It’s time to change her life.

There is nothing wrong with the Orchitop pots, if you water the orchid inside at the sink, or soak it separately. However if I want to use my spray bottle technique, I end up spraying walls instead of roots.
The result it some root tips that stopped growing and some stained walls. The roots inside seem to grow much better so it’s clear we have a humidity issue and a layering problem.
I will use a standard clay pot, 21 cm in diameter. I will also use a combination of leca and seramis, as this seems to do a better job with wicking and retaining water.
Now this orchid will be watered the same as my other ones, no more dehydrated root tips hopefully 🙂 Will keep you up to date!
