Repotting Phalaenopsis Orchid in inorganic medium and plastic pot
Here is another repotting, but this time for the popular Phalaenopsis orchid. I am using a clear plastic pot for her, but for the sake of comparison, I will pot some in clay pots as well. We shall see what are the benefits, if there are any.

So Again I am using Seramis and hydroton, however a bigger ratio of hydroton since plastic pots, even with ventilation holes, dry slower than clay pots.
I make sure to cut away any dead root and clean all the organic medium prior used. This is very important, you don’t want any organics decomposing inside the pot, or you will need to repot regularly again.
The repotting is just like any other, nothing different. However the way of watering this one is.. at the sink 🙁 Too much hydroton for this pot to wick up water, also plastic doesn’t wick anything. So ok, at the sink we go. This is the main reason I switched to clay and will probably still use clay pots even with monopodial orchids.
