A blue Orchid that is not painted! Dendrobium victoria reginae

Today we take a look at a very popular and beautiful blue orchid, the Queen herself 🙂

Dendrobium victoria reginae is one of the few orchids that poses a color very close to true blue. Even if it is still a bit purple, it comes close more than any other orchid I’ve owned! Learn more about this species here http://www.orchidspecies.com/denvictoriareginae.htm

The flowers are small and non fragrant, formed usually at the upper nodes of the canes. This orchid is not a miniature, but it can bloom at a young age and small size.

In recent yeas it has become more popular so it is fairly easy to find in orchid nurseries. It is certainly a great alternative to the painted blue Phalaenopsis 😉
