About Oncidium intergeneric Orchids (Cambria Orchids)
Oncidium orchids are one of the largest group of orchids available for purchase. There are both species and hybrids available, but also inter generic hybrids, sometimes called Cambria. What do we make out of all of this?
Well for the most part, species belonging to the Oncidium family can be crossed to create new hybrids. Even if we have a cross of a Miltonia, an Oncidium and a Brassia, we still get an Oncidium inter generic.
There are some distinct species in this family though, the most popular ones being Miltonia, Brassia and Miltoniopsis. There are a few differences in their care, some major, some negligible.
Miltoniopsis and their hybrids though are less resilient and harder to keep in a home. For this reason a proper identification is necessary, even if we refer to the very same vast Oncidium family.
