All about Phalaenopsis Orchid flower spikes

Today we focus on Phalaenopsis orchids and talk more about the most anticipated aspect of their care: the flower spike production!

Phalaenopsis orchids produce flower spikes in the colder seasons, rather than spring and summer. They are prompted by lower temperatures to stop growing new leaves and start focusing on flowers. There are many theories that suggest temperature variation and daylight are the triggers, I haven’t found them to be a major factor though, not as much as temperature drop to about 17-18 degrees C in the night especially.
