Dehydrated Phalaenopsis Orchids update
Time to take a look at my sickly Phalaenopsis orchids. Well what do you know, we’re on the right track to recovery 🙂

For the main part they were all dehydrated and in need of some care. I was lucky not to have any rotting or irreversible damage and the roots were still ok, even if quite shriveled.
After a period of proper watering, intermediate temperatures and no more sun, things are looking a lot better. The Phalaenopsis Wild Peach and Sun Passat look like nothing ever happened. The third one will probably lose the very damaged leaf, but overall she is looking very nice.
I like them in clay pots since they provide good ventilation, humidity and are heavy enough to support them. Phalaenopsis can become top heavy, especially when in bloom, for this reason I prefer clay pots over plastic, but only with inorganic medium. I re repotted my Phalaenopsis Tzu Chiang Balm in a clay pot after I dropped it once and disturbed it too many times as the plastic pot was too flexible.
