First blooms on Osmoglossum pulchellum Orchid
Here is my Osmoglossum pulchellum orchid (renamed as Cuitlauzina pulchella, let’s ignore that for now, I’m sure it will be renamed once again soon hopefully with a pronounceable one). This is the first blooms produced by this orchid and, sadly, it’s rather disappointing.
The blooms did not open fully after 1 week, the spike is quite short and the fragrance is abysmal (pretty similar to ink and not subtle at all). Funny thing, the flowers are non-resupinate(ed?).
But I am hopeful for future blooms, some orchids really don’t show their full potential at their first blooms. However if this continues we’re in need of another individual, this one might just be a faulty seed, or a clone after a faulty individual 🙁
