Maxillaria Orchids basic care
Here are a few basic care tips to grow Maxillaria orchids, or at least to try to keep them alive.
First off they do seem to like bright light and warmer temperatures, in my warmer months is when I get the most growth and blooms out of them. I have yet to burn a leaf, this doesn’t mean they cannot burn so be careful with direct sunlight.
Also they seem to prefer being rather moist than dry. I water them when the media is almost completely dry, if the media dries too much the pseudobulbs will get wrinkles. Leaves don’t seem to be prone to pleating.
The main problem that I had with them is rotting of the new growth, so be careful when watering to avoid the new shoots. They just seem to rot very easy.
Other than that they seem to be quite resilient, even if their roots are damaged severely. some even bloom regularly after a stressful repotting or situation.
