Miltassia (Bratonia) Shelob ‘Tolkien’ – Watch out Mr. Frodo!
The Miltassia (Bratonia) Shelob Tolkien is a cross between Bratonia Olmec and Brassia Edvah Loo. The special feature of this orchid is its Brassia shaped flowers that have a pink color, unlike most other Brassias which present a yellow color. Flowers are mildly fragrant, smelling spicy floral, nothing to write home about though. The name is inspired by the famous novel Lord of the Rings written by J.R.R. Tolkien, Shelob being a giant spider. This orchid however is nothing like the scary spider in the novel, but is a joy to behold.
