Orchid Identification – Dendrobium Purple Happiness
Good news, one of my viewers helped me identify this Dendrobium I recently purchased from IKEA! It is not a registered hybrid, but at least we have a commercial name.

Well the name Purple Happiness is rather fitting I would say, it’s purple, brings you happiness, what else can you ask for? What if I told you there is a Blue Happiness one too 🙂 http://www.sa-nook.nl/Product/Info/8
This is a Dendrobium Phalaenopsis type, though it has nothing to do with Phalaenopsis. It just means it does not take any winter breaks or dormancy, though leaves might fall periodically.
The flowers are lightly fragrant and have a mild floral scent, perfect for people that are sensitive to strong fragrances. Very easy to like as it isn’t too sweet or too sower.
Overall a nice buy and a very showy plant 🙂
