Orchid repotting becomes Orchid experiment – Another long stem Phalaenopsis

Today I wanted to repot my weird looking Phalaenopsis that I recently purchased, but things turned out very different!

Since I could not see through the pot I did not know what to expect root wise. Well what I found was a very long stem, meaning this orchid is actually very old!
Since I did not want to bury the stem, nor was I looking to obtain a palm tree looking like Orchid, I decided not to repot this orchid, but to cut the stem. I left enough roots on the upper part and sealed the cut wound with cinnamon powder. I let the orchid rest in a plastic pot until the wound dries and is safe to be potted.
