Orchid updates – Neofinetia, Vanda, Zygopetalum and others
Here is an update on a few of my orchids, as some of my viewers requested:
The Neofinetia falcata orchid in the kokedama style potting is growing fantastic, this way of growth really does seem to perform well with this orchid. As spring is coming, the orchid is producing loads of new roots.
TheVanda coelestis blue keiki is pulling through as well with a new root and a new leaf, hoping for no more infections!
The Phalaenopsis tetraspis is not ok. The stem seems sick, though I cannot see any rot. A bad reaction to neem oil or to water culture might be the culprit.
The Sedireas are doing ok, pulling through the mite damage as best as they can. One is producing a flower spike!
The Schomburgkia thomsoniana is growing more and more vigorous, I suspect a lack of sun for its non blooming activity, will fix it in my new greenhouse 🙂
My sick Encyclia cordigera is free of fungal infections! eliminate the cause and half the treatment is done. Very strong individual, I practically didn’t use any substance on it to help it out, apart from hydrogen peroxide to kill off fungi spores.
Surprisingly enough my Zygopetalum is alive! showered every week at least to keep the mites down, but overall no real harm. The curse has been lifted 🙂
