Orchids in bloom and new acquisitions – April 2017
Time to recap the orchids we saw in bloom this month, as well as some new additions to the Orchid collection! Don’t forget to vote!

In order of appearance, the orchids in bloom were:
1. Dendrobium Fancy Angel Lycee, a very fragrant, white pink nobile hybrid that surely is heavenly!
2. Dendrobium Oriental Paradise ‘Aurora’, my favorite nobile with a melon like fragrance and wonderful colors!
3. Dendrobium Comet King Akatsuki, with a hyacinth fragrance and lovely purple colors.
4. Tolumnia Genting Orange, a rusty autumn colored mini orchids that I love and hope to treat of fusarium.
5. Recchara Frances Fox https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=giQXn3dY8es&t=135s my new favorite! words are just useless 🙂
6. Miltoniopsis Red Tide, a less finicky one! lovely rosy fragrance and great dark color.
7. Phragmipedium popowii, the longest sepals I have ever seen on an orchid, check out the presentation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6O5kTshUAA4&t=1s
8. Cattleya mosiae, the orchid with the largest flowers overall in my collection! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgHC4hZZgls
9. Leprotes bicolor, a great aromatic orchid (not fragrant) that bloomed for the first time.
10. Phragmipedium Ainsworthii, a great red – pink orchid that has sequential flower spikes!
11. Masdevallia ignea, a fiery red orchid with pure red veins, what a delight!
