Phalaenopsis Orchids with purple leaves
We all know and love Phalaenopsis orchids and we are already pretty acquainted with how they look like. But why do some Phalaenopsis orchids have purple leaves?
▼▼▼More info bellow!▼▼▼
The purple tinge we see on some Phalaenopsis is actually nothing more than their natural pigmentation. Some orchid species have this coloration on their leaves and they pass this trait on to the hybrids. I observed that many Phalaenopsis that have purple flowers, or a purple pattern on their petals are prone to having a purple tinge. The intensity of the coloration might vary and it’s not always a rule.
Bright light intensifies this tinge, so be careful that you don’t give too much sunlight to your Phalaenopsis orchid, it might burn the leaves if they over heat. Also make sure the tinge is purple, not brown or black, those might be infections of a different nature.
The purple coloration can also appear on root tips as they grow and even flower spikes. As long as the orchid is in good condition, all is ok and the pigmentation is natural.
