Potting Pleione Orchids in soil medium
Finally my Pleione orchid bulbs are getting potted. After a long dormancy in the refrigerator and weeks without medium, it’s time to let these babies grow.

Pleione orchids are terrestrial, so they naturally grow in soil. This needs to be well draining though, so I opted for a very fluffy soil combined with some hydroton pebbles.
Since these orchids die back once a year, there is no need for inorganic medium, but I potted one of my Pleiones in inorganic medium just to see the difference.
My Pleiones are really late to the party, most should be in bloom by now, but I intentionally dragged it so I transport them without the new roots already grown. We’ll see if they want to bloom this year or not 🙂
