Preparing Dendrobium nobile orchids for the winter rest
In this video we will discuss Dendrobium nobile orchids, as it is their season to start going into their rest period.
At this point the orchid will have already finished growing the new canes. This will be easily noticeable, as the canes will stop producing leaves from the top. When you see your Dendrobium in this stage it is time to stop fertilizing this orchid all together.
Also watering frequency should be reduced, just water the orchid as often enough as to keep the old canes from shriveling. At first you will water more frequent but as autumn progresses, these orchids will need very little water maybe about every 2-4 weeks.
It is also time to think where they will spend the autumn. They need a drop in temperature until winter, so placing them outside would be a good solution if temperatures drop significantly in your region.
