Repotting Cattleya Orchid – Proper position in the pot
Today we repot the Cattleya orchid I recently received from my mom. It is a big Cattleya that run out of space to grow on the side of the pot, thus position must be considered.

Cattleyas seem to do great for me in inorganic medium, thus I have no doubt this one will do great as well. It is an interesting case though, even if the orchid would be potted in the perfect fresh medium, I would still need to repot due to its position.
The main lead threatens to grow out of the pot, even with a change in direction, many roots would still be produced out of the pot. When potting a sympodial orchid the growth direction must be taken into account and positioning is important.
I am always trying to arrange the growth direction towards the middle of the pot, in this case I discovered 2 possible leads and compromised. But there is still room, even with a direction change, for new growth to head towards the center.
