Unmounting big Cattleya Orchid from a rotting mount
This is the Cattleya Jungle Eyes that has been growing on this wood mount for a lot of time. The wood is breaking apart so it is time to unmount it and also divide it and share it with a friend.
First step is to soak the orchid in water to make the roots more flexible. hen I cut the ties and just detached the roots slowly. Some roots will be damaged but if most roots are good, we’re good too.
It was pretty simple to divide since this orchid was not connected, I actually had 2 orchids there 🙂
