Vanilla Orchid – potting cuttings
I have received a few cuttings of Vanilla orchid, to be more specific Vanilla planifolia. This is the first time I ever try this orchid, since I had no space for it now. Let’s see how to pot it!

Vanilla planifolia is actually the aromatic plant you add in cookies and other foods. Its seedpods are dried and used to flavor everything, even body creams!
Little do people know, this is actually an orchid! Moreover, it has a vine growth habit, so keeping this in a home will be a bit tricky, but not impossible.
I chose terrestrial orchid mix (though it’s advertised as orchid soil, totally not appropriate), a spacious pot and a rod covered in coconut fiber. As it grows the Vanilla will attach to the rod and the roots need hydration as well.
I plan on keeping it in a bright but shaded location for now, as it is not established yet. I really hope these small cuttings will catch and thank you so much Oana for sending these to me! Stay tuned for updates 😀
